Unfortunately, “foundation” is not my
middle name and my relationship with this fundamental makeup necessity has not
been one filled with sunshine and daisies. I only really started wearing
foundation 3 or 4 years ago despite being on stage since I was 3, lucky for me
I was fortunate enough to never go through the ‘acne-ridden-horrible-breakout’
stage.
Obviously my interest in makeup and all
things beauty related has flourished since then resulting in a large collection
of disappointing foundations with only a few holy grails pulling through. This
leads me my most recent purchase on the foundation front…
Ever since Emma Watson became an ambassador back in 2011 I have been meaning to try Lancôme products but up until about a week ago I never had. From the moment the lady at the counter placed a few dabs of the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24 Hour Foundation in shade #02 Lys Rose across my cheekbones I knew it was love!
According to the Lancome website it took 8
years worth of research for them to create this amazing product with it’s claim
to fame being that it lasts for 24 hours. That’s a big call and I dismissed it
as a marketing ploy initially but I can now definitely vouch for it now!
I had a wedding this past weekend and I
applied it at roughly 9am, throughout the day I did not touch up the foundation
at all just my powder slightly around lunch time and when I got home at about
1am the following morning it had not budged! Yes, I am aware that’s not a full
24 hours but in my book that’s pretty darn close!
The texture is super smooth and velvety and
just using 2 pumps worth of product results in a lovely matte finish, even
looking foundation. I would describe my
skin as normal, occasionally I may say combination and after many failed
attempts to perfect the ‘illuminated dewy skin’ look; I have found I now lean
towards achieving a more natural, matte appearance. I am aware for many the word ‘matte’ calls to
mind flat, old, cakey faces but I assure you that is not what results from
using this product.
If I really had to nit pick I would say the
shade I purchased has quite strong rosy undertones once oxidized and can look a
bit too pink, other than that I guess it was not fun trying to justify to
people shelling out $55 on foundation but then again this price was apart of a
special promotion Lancôme had on, usually it is $68 so YAY for me, I really
struck gold!
Can be purchased from Myer, David Jones or (for Australians) ordered online at http://www.adorebeauty.com.au/
