Thus, I thought I would do a quick post on what new music I have been listening to, some of which I have been waiting years for!
First off, "Bad Blood" is the debut album from UK band Bastille, and boy oh boy it is outstanding! If you are into Alt-Pop then you are sure to love this album! From the energetic powerful melodies to the quirky yet sombre ballads this album truly is a tasty treat, something you can really sink your teeth into and enjoy!
It's really hard to say which songs are my favourites as I think all have something special which makes you want to listen but Pompeii, Things We Lost in the Fire, Flaws, Weight of Living Part I, Icarus and Laura Palmer really make this album what it is!
Next is "Modern Vampires of the City" by the NY band Vampire Weekend. Having been a massive fan of these guys for many years now, I have endured serious withdrawals from their music (along with all their other fans) for the past 3 years- thats how long its been since Contra was released! But, just in true Vampire Weekend fashion they did not disappoint. Still maintaining their signature infectious sounds created through high energy rhythms, cooky beats and a great mix of instruments- this album is one giant ball of fun.
If you aren't too sure if its worth buying the whole album (which it is) have a listen to Unbelievers, Diane Young, Everlasting Arms, Finger Back, Worship You or for something more sombre Don't Lie- look in all honesty this album is pretty fool proof!
Lastly, "Volume 3" by the dynamic duo She & Him. For those who are unaware the 'She' is the incredible Zooey Deschanel aka. Jess Day in New Girl, Summer in 500 Days of Summer, the teacher in Bridge to Terabithia- ok you get the point! Anyway, she has an amazing, deep almost luxurious singing voice in addition to being a killer actor! As the title suggests there are 2 other volumes ( and a toasty Christmas album), all very similar in sound and all containing the ability to transport you to another time and place- specifically the 1960's. This kind of music doesn't float everyones boat, floats mine so much it practically flies, but if you have an open mind it's definitely worth a listen!
Each song really fits the following- like a jigsaw- but my favourites would have to be I've Got Your Number Son, Never Wanted Your Love, Could of Been Your Girl and Sunday Girl.
Hope You Enjoy!
