How to "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive"

Johnny Mercer sure knew what he was talking about when he came up with the famous lyrics

"You've got to Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In between"

Except this is often 'easier said than done', especially in the current society in which we live. We are constantly being told we are not good enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough- open any magazine and you will find that every segment is dedicated to helping you "be better"… Although the challenge to overcome this extends far beyond having positive self esteem, our world is intoxicated by the negative and this impacts on every aspect of our lives, causing us to dwell and wallow in all the little things that didn't go to plan...

Being a firm believer in the Law or Attraction and taking great interest in the power of positive thought I figured I would suggest some simple things you can do to help "eliminate the negative"….

Don't dwell on the past-

Whats done is done! As humans we have a tendency to remember the past better than it was and this only leads to misery and disappointment. You must live in the present! Each thought you put out into the universe will manifest into reality if it is thought about enough, each moment is an opportunity to create and change for the better. Nothing beneficial will come from wishing you could change something that happened even a second prior, as Walt Disney would say "Keep moving forward".
Write a list of 100 things you are grateful for-

I know 100 things is daunting, the first time I did it I struggled immensely, but it does get easier each time you do it so the more you can the more you should! If you feel 100 is too much or you get stuck its no big deal, don't stress and beat yourself up over it, but really strive to reach it, by the time you get to 20 you will be looking at the whole process a lot deeper and going beyond the superficial.
Each day record what made you happy/grateful-
There is a range of apps you can now buy to make keeping track of the good things that happen during the day that much more convenient, but even a piece of paper and pen will do. This process really emphasises the "every day may not be good, but there is good in every day" mentality,  you can do it as the moments happen or at night it doesn't really matter but this process of reflection is so beneficial for the mind and soul.
Create a playlist of the songs that make you the happiest-
The reason your mood can completely turn around when listening to music is because when you listen to music that emotionally moves you it releases the "feel good" chemical known as Dopamine! Any time you are feeling crappy listen to it! Or start your day buy listening to motivating music whilst getting ready (this is what I tend to do and it really does make a big difference).
Create a mood/inspiration board-
Close your eyes and think about what you want out of life, imagine you are old and on your death bed reflecting about what you have achieved in your life, what is it you want to see? Find pictures of all the things you want out of life, what you want to achieve, the kind of person you want to be etc and post them on a piece on cardboard and place in somewhere which gets lots of exposure! Everytime you are down and asking "Why do I bother trying so hard at school/uni/work?" or thinking "I am so untalented, I am just gonna stop trying and dreaming, I was never gonna win anyway ", look at your board and remind your self of all the things you want out of life…
Re-evalute your social circles-
Never let a negative person ruin your day. It can be a daunting thing admitting that someone who you were once extremely close to is in fact burdening you and destroying your positivity with their negativity, I am speaking for experience, but negativity is infectious and despite the fact positivity is too its often out balanced… Surround yourself with people that make you feel good about yourself and your dreams! They will bring you no motivation or support, don't let them rain on your parade!
Make a list of the moments in your life you felt the happiest-
There doesn't need to be a lot of them but they need to explode "optimism", when you are in a slump just remember how you felt in one of those happy moments, what it was that made it so powerfully positive and feel its energy literally feel it seep out from inside you, from your head to your toes- try it you will be surprised at how effective it is!

There are 100+ of ways to change your attitude but these are just 5 simple ones proven to work!
