BeautyBay.Com Order #1 Part II: Stila 'In the Garden' Palette

As I mentioned in my prior post I purchased both The Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette and the Stila “In the Garden” palette at the same time off BeautyBay.com,  not to sound like a materialistic loon but the “In the Garden” palette is everything I have been looking for and more!

I have for a couple of months now been searching for a palette that contains beautiful green-y, olive-y golds and complementary colours to no avail up until I saw this palette. In all honesty I first saw this walking past a counter in Myer except in Australia it is retailed for $62 and based on that one second glance I wasn’t impressed enough to stop and spend that much… but then I saw it online for the second time and then saw it was only $35.67 I clicked that “Add to Bag” so fast the poor thing probably didn’t know what hit it!

The name makes it incredibly obvious but the palette is “botanical inspired” and suggested to be perfect for Spring, I am currently going into winter and I think it is perfectly suited for now and all year round!

The
 collection features:

“Chinois” which is a matte creamy white, similar to “Foxy” in the Naked Basics.

•    “Breeze” a lovely shimmering nude/beige but not dull quite pinky flesh toned. This is another I love wearing alone with just some winged eyeliner.

•    “Bark” is a pewtar/ taupe shade with a delicate shimmer.

•    “Freesia” is one of the BAM! colours being a loud cobalt blue shimmer with violet undertones. I haven’t figured out the best way to wear this one yet but blue eye shadow is meant to look lovely on brown eyes so I will definitely be playing around with it soon…

•    “Rosette”, the vibrant metallic fuchsia violet shade is actually incredibly flattering! I was expecting, and secretly hoping, it would be a deeper more plum colour than what it is in the picture on the website, but after wearing it a couple of times still does a great job.

•    “Nectar” is a matte creamy beige colour, pretty much “Breeze” without the shimmer.

•    “Honey” is described as “metallic bronze with golden tones” although in my eyes this is border line orange… not one I would wear on its own but definitely necessary for some looks…

•    “Sage” is actually my tied favourite in this palette and what really won the palette over me, it is an iridescent luminous green colour and just looks so amazing on without being over the top!

•    “Moss” is my other tied favourite and is no where near as brown on as what it looks in the palette,  it actually swatches a dark olive green colour with a shimmering finish reminding me of pixies and forest nymphs!

•    “Juniper” is a deep shimmering forest green and I don’t know if it’s possible to “tie” between 3 but this also looks magnificent on the eyes and works so well with the included eyeliner!

The palette also contains a “Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Starfish” where a brush would normally be supplied... I believe this is SO much better cause who uses those crappy brushes anyway? The colour of Starfish is black but due to the shimmering gold and green pearl within it, it tends to looks more like a deep forest green which looks simply divine on!

As an added bonus the palette comes with an 8 page look book which explains how to use certain colours to achieve beautiful eye looks as well as other hints and tips!

Overall this palette is really “majestic” and I say that because I can’t shake the image of fairies in a secret garden when looking at the shades! Obviously you can wear these shimmery colours without worrying you look like your off to a fancy dress so don’t stress! Fellow Australians can also pick one up for roughly half price athttp://www.beautybay.com,  oh how sweet the feeling is!

Have you tried any other Stila palettes which you thought were great? Comment below!
